We’ve just been out to our local Christmas light switch on – brrrr it’s cold outside! This new piece of elemental art represents the onset of winter, and will be my next free art drop. If you live in the Wallington and Carshalton area, keep an eye out for it over the weekend. It’s a big piece so it shouldn’t be too hard to find!
After a crazy busy few weeks making art in Berlin and taking part in the Carshalton Artists Open Studios, things are resuming a slightly more ‘normal’ pace. Having exhibited several elemental art pieces during the open studios, I’ve been wanting to return to making again, and I’ve been playing with a new design.
Here is the image, unmounted. It’s painted using watercolours, spray paint, acrylic, and gold leaf. With all the fine weather we’ve been enjoying lately, this feels like a timely new design in the series.
Where do good ideas come from? I often make art with a title or a theme in mind. Often, and not always…
I’ve been busy this week and my free art will be placed a little later than usual, it’s going out on Sunday this week. I’ve been experimenting with my elemental art theme again – and been looking at and thinking about Spring. I made these two small sketches, slight variations on previous designs, and once complete – I wasn’t sure what to call them.
Googling the words green and silver, I learned of a moth called Green Silver-lines. This woodland moth is green with three white lines crossing its wings. I have three silver lines on my green design – so now I have a title for this work.
I haven’t yet decided which one to place, have you got a preference?
