How does past change affect future change? That’s the nuts and bolts of a question posed on LinkedIn by Garrett Gitchell. Good question Garrett. Here’s my attempt at answering it using a diagram. Why a diagram? Well a picture paints a thousand words so they say – and hey, it’s just a little different eh?
The red ‘fail’ route looks blindingly familiar to me. It’s such a shame that some organisations compound their problems by repeatedly implementing poor change programs. The result, as you’ve quite rightly have identified, is that the services they provide suffer, their credibility worsens and staff get more demoralised and leave.
Oh dear, you are spot on Nigel. Thanks for dropping by and highlighting this lack of experiential learning. I believe that as What Goes Around becomes more used and more useful in 2010 we will see an improvement 🙂
