Earlier today my company website fell over whilst I was doing some work on it, wasn’t me guv. While waiting for it to reawaken I had a coffee and when I finished I looked at the coffee grounds and wondered….

So – here you have a real mug of coffee, painted with what was left in the bottom of the mug.

On my recent trip to Croyde Bay I found a small shell on the beach. It was packed with sand and I creafully eased all the grains out and thought, ‘I’ll paint that later. I put the tiny, fragile shell in my pocket and forgot about it.

When I got home a few days later the shell was still in my pocket and remarkably, still in once piece. It has been sitting on the desk for about a month until I took it outside into the wonderfully sunny weekend we’ve just had and painted it. The picture is postcard sized, the actual shell is less than 2cm long.

I realyl enjoyed sitting in the sun and painting this picture, and when I finished it I made a second version in blue. I hope you like them.

These two pictures are now in the USA.

Here’s a quick look over the shoulder, already! Before I started painting the holiday postcards I sat looking out to sea wondering where to start. As I sat there thinking about beach scenes I wondered wht it might look like staring back to land, from ship to shore. Before I knew it I had painted this little doodle and promptly stashed it in the back of my sketch book where it remained until last night. It just…fell out. There’s something about it I quite like, I hope you do too 🙂
