Direction of Travel

This is a painting for my loving, supportive, wise friend and wife, Carole. Her favourite colour is blue, and the image is intended to symbolise movement, a journey, hence the title – Direction of Travel.

The painting is 20cm x 38cm, acrylic on canvas. I painted this in several layers, over several days, trying to add light and shade and through the thickness of paint, a little depth too. I rarely use acrylic paint – and I really enjoyed making this so I will make more use of this medium in future.

Explosions in Acrylic

I recently experimented with acrylic paint again – initially I was just looking to create something with a sense of depth and fluidity. Here are four images I created. The first, titled Explosion in Purple, I have kept (you can see it here unframed and framed). The second, titled Ketchup and Mustard, found it’s way to my friend Dwane Lay over in St Louis. The third untitled image developed into the fourth, if you look closely I’m sure you’ll see what I mean.

Update : February 2016 – Explosion in Purple has been sold and is on its way to the USA.
