Slowly Bares The Soul

On arrival at Facilitation Jam last Friday, Flora shared with us a few words first spoken by Johan Wolfgang von Goethe:

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

And so began one of the deepest, most powerful experiences it has been my privilege to attend and share in. The time we spent together was fun, challenging, educational, observational and much more. We laughed, cried, walked, talked, dined and learned with and from each other, and we were bold beyond my high expectations.

I wrote this poem on Sunday as I reflected on my experience. I hope you like it.

Sincere thanks to David, Flora, Jools, Kev, Martin, Meg and Tash.

  1. Too deep for me I think, but then I am a scientist and illiterate philistine (at least according to my old head master.) 🙂

It reminds me a of a book of poetry a girl friend (not girlfriend) gave to me many years ago. When she, an English student, described them as strange, but with deep hidden meanings she was not wrong – I think. I came across the book on my shelf the other day and still don’t know what the f*ck they are about. The dried four leaf clover that she also gave and is still in the book, seems to connect better with me.

    1. Love it! Poetry is a funny thing eh – I practice it only rarely and perhaps as a result, feel hugely nervous when letting it out into the wild.

At some levels I am not sure I know what the f*ck this poem is about either, and that’s OK as in part, I hope it prompts others to think….a bit.

The four leaf clover – now that’s a lovely special memento – I’m pleased you still have it.

  2. I knew I was amongst friends once the snowball fight kicked off! Great post. Great couple of days. Priceless learning and reflection which continues to unfold…

    1. What – you mean a video and an illustration aren’t enough? Sheesh – no pleasing some folk. OK – here goes:

      Slow flow freezing
      Briefly crystallised
      An infinite variety
      Separately together

      Movement thawing
      Mindfully unified
      Ribbon flowing
      Constant going

      Natural erosion
      Slowly bares the soul
